SYNOPSIS

HIV remains one of the greatest pandemics in history, having claimed more than 34 million lives so far. More than 1.8 million children under 15 now live with HIV worldwide, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa. Every day 400 new children become infected with HIV. Without treatment 50% will die before the age of 2 and only 10% will survive to 10 years old. Only 49% of these children receive antiretroviral treatment …

For the last 10 years, thanks to early diagnosis and the deployment of antiretroviral therapy, African children infected with HIV have been able to deal with the illness not as a death sentence, but as a chronic disease, and thus live a life with the same opportunities as any other child. Although behind these hopeful stories hide other dramas: deceased parents, abandonment, childhoods in orphanages, abuse, backwardness at school, stigma, difficulty in finding a partner and creating a family in a future …

Siliakus, Sara, Mussa, Ibrahim, Bray, Sainui and Elisha are some of these children. In this documentary film they explain how their lifes are…
They are The Positive Kids.
